Indiana farmers received $12.7 billion in cash receipts from farm marketing’s in 2014, 12 percent
above 2013. Cash receipts from crops were up 8 percent, and receipts for livestock were 19 percent
above the previous year. Marketings of crops at $8.45 billion, accounted for 66. 3 percent of the total
cash receipts in 2014 while livestock receipts, at $4.29 billion, accounted for the remaining 33. 7
percent. In the previous year crop receipts accounted for 68. 5 percent and livestock 31. 5 percent of
total cash receipts.
Corn was the leading source of income for Indiana farmers in 2014 and amounted to $4.36 billion.
Soybeans were second at $3.44 billion and meat animals were third with $1.78 billion. Poultry and
Eggs remained as the fourth leading contributor with $1.39 billion and Dairy follows with $939 million.
These five commodity groups accounted for almost 94 percent of the 2014 cash receipts.
